Honouring Marine Security Guards who have passed on.

Application for inclusion can be made via the Secretary of MEGA.

Alpha List:  These Rolls include all Marines who are known to MEGA and is NOT presented as a definitive list under any category. While every effort is made to search out and confirm those who gave their lives  while on assignment as a Marine Security Guard we rely solely on members and visitors to report those who might be overlooked.

Category 1:  Marines who die honourably while serving on a Marine Security Assignment.

Petition for inclusion requirements:

Media coverage or MSG Battalion information will serve as sufficient information to place the deceased Marine's name in this category.

Category 2:  Former Marine Security Guards who die as the result of hostile actions.

Petition for inclusion requirements:  

Petition by a MEGA member:  The MEGA member may file the petition by preparing an affidavit outlining the deceased's dates of MSG service, locations and the circumstances of the former MSG's death. The petition shall be signed by the MEGA member. No further documentation will be required.

Petition by any other person. Any person may petition for the inclusion of a former MSG who meets the criteria for this category. The petitioner must include documentation that verifies the MSG service of the former MSG, as well as documentation that verifies the nature of the individual's death

Category 3:  Marine Embassy Guard Association members who expire.

Petition for inclusion requirements:  

Any MEGA member, or immediate next of kin, may petition for inclusion of any deceased MEGA member by supplying a signed affidavit confirming the death. No other documentation is required

Category 4:  Marine Embassy Guard Association non-members who expire.

Petition for inclusion requirements:

Any MEGA member, or immediate next of kin, may petition for inclusion of any deceased former Marine Security Guard by supplying a signed affidavit confirming the death. No other documentation is required

Background:  For several years, the MEGA website has had a section called the "Honor Roll," listing Marines who have died while on active duty, but not necessarily MSG duty. The criteria for adding a Marine to the Honor Roll had been somewhat unstructured. Below you will find the new restructuring of the Honor Roll and the procedures for the inclusion of names which was approved by the Board of Directors at their November 2000 meeting and reaffirmed at the phone conference held on Saturday 20 February 2010.
